Commercial Tool Group began in 1953 when Al Bouwman founded Commercial Tool & Die, CTG’s first division. His son, Doug, took an active role in the business in 1979. Under Doug’s leadership, the company experienced steady growth in size, organization, and customer base. The next generation, JD and Daniel Bouwman, became partial owners in 2012 before becoming sole owners in 2022. Today, they continue the family tradition of building on CTG’s foundation while investing in the company’s continued growth and future.

Today, Commercial Tool Group has grown to more than 170,000 square feet of manufacturing space across three facilities in Comstock Park, and one in Walker, Michigan. As the company has expanded, CTG has remained committed to continuous investment in its employees, equipment, technology, and manufacturing capabilities. By balancing the experience and expertise of our people with advanced manufacturing technology, we continue to develop innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and the industries we serve.

Under JD and Daniel’s leadership, CTG continues to build on more than 70 years of manufacturing experience while embracing the changes necessary to compete in today’s fast-paced manufacturing industry.
